(There are actually several identical red sofas in the lobby of the White Swan. The girls are each wearing a jade pendant that was given to them by the orphanage.

This is Tim & Janell as we were getting on the plane in Chicago headed for Beijing.Just thought I'd share a few pictures of two spunky Jiangsu "sisters"...
Many of you may not know this, but LE has a very special connection to a little girl that lives in Michigan. Her name is Abigail. Abigail's parents along with Will & I traveled together to China to bring our girls home. There were 12 families in our travel group but only Abigail and LE were in the same orphanage...Zhangjiagang Children's Welfare Institute which is just outside of Nanjing, Jiangsu in the People's Republic of China. In fact, LE & Abigail lived in the same room at the orphanage and shared the same caregivers, toys, maybe even breakfast (since they all seemed to eat from a "community" bowl of rice congee.) Abigail is a little over a year older than LE and her special need was cleft lip/cleft palate while LE's is Congenital Heart Defect. We try to stay in touch with Abigail's parents (Tim & Janell) and chat by internet or phone pretty regularly. I so wish we lived closer so the girls could visit and grow up together.
The reason I bring this up is because Abilgail underwent her 3rd surgery (2nd since coming home from China) this past week and she has been on my mind. She is a precious little spitfire and so cute. She seems to have bounced back from surgery very well and is doing fine. Just wanted to send a little love to our friends in Michigan!
